Nissan Teaches Us To Juke And Drive

It's not often that we here at Hachland stop and take a look at a vehicle or at any major investment as a automobile or even something more expensive than say a video game. Yet, for some reason this new Nissan Juke has driven me, no pun intended, to step back and examine it.

Now, I know what you're thinking, but Hach, why are we looking at cars shouldn't you be looking at things that are funny, or trying to be. No, well, this car has intrigued me.

This Japanese car manufacturer which as of late has had some reputation insults due to it's cars being recalled and involved in numerous car accidents. Such as two years ago when they recalled 540,000 cars due to problems that may seem very simple to us, as in that should work no matter what kind of car your building in the fact that both the brake pedals and gas gauges didn't work.

Numerous other recalls have been announced affecting the company vastly, but they keep trying their best and coming back with brand new cars. Reliable? Now that's the main concern and question.

Even last year the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation over leakage issues over Nissan's Altimas with the model years of the cars involved being the 2007 and 2008 year models. Which could possibly lead to more recalls and affect the car company even more.

With us at Hachland reviewing the Nissan Juke, we also looked into the possibility of recall issues with this car. And well, a few months ago there was one. To get rid of all the technical jargon and just explain what the recall was and why it was, well simply put there was a possible shortage in wiring that would call the engine to stall.

Nice right? Imagine driving 60 or 70 miles per hour on a highway and your car just deciding to up and well, STOP. I would be terribly embarrassed especially when my car gets ran over by a nice 18 wheeler.

No, I'm not saying that's going to happen if you go out and purchase the Nissan Juke. I'm not Jeremy Clarkson and I've only driven a few cars in my lifetime, but when their is doubt, we have it.

Yet what makes this Nissan Juke look so cool and appealing? Is it for your grandmother? Nope. I don't even think it's for me. I think I'm not hip enough to get in this car. If you simply look at the dimensions of the car and see the car lines. I think it's just to hip.

While you take another of Nissan's creations the Cube and compare it to the Juke you can see the slight similarities. Much like the same similarities one sees with containers that milk come in. Meaning have you see what a quart of milk come in and a gallon of which?

They are completely different. A gallon of milk is plastic, round and comes along with a nice handle. While as the quart of milk comes in a cardboard box.

Now I'm not saying the Cube or the Juke is made of plastic or cardboard. But probably is made mostly of plastic. As most cars are.

Wait, you're not thinking I'm calling all cars plastic milk jugs are you? Oh, come on!

As for the Nissan Juke's driving capabilities are from 0 to 60 miles per hour it only takes 7.3 seconds. That's the same amount of time it takes me to blink twice. Or change the channel 50,232,353 times. Yes, I change the channels a lot. Especially when nothing is on, which for some reason with a billion channels is a sad daily occurrence.

For it's top speed it says it can get up to 137 miles per hour. But I do not for see anyone going that fast legally, but then again maybe this kind of car can become a car for certain law officers around the world.

While Nissan has attempted it will sell 20,000 Jukes in the first year of production inside the United States, it's awkward appearance may hinder that objective. Personally I see this car as two cars atop of each other. Almost like one car was cut in half and placed a top another car that just happened to be similar in size yet slightly bigger. I mean, the top part is smaller than the bottom part.

If you don't see it, then the Nissan car company thanks you.
